About PCG
Providence Consulting Group (PCG) is an Infor Alliance and Oracle NetSuite partner. Its project managers run ERP programs for clients, and its PMO keeps watch over the whole portfolio.
The challenge
Every consultant needed a Microsoft Project license, and project reviews ran to 90 minutes.
In a review that long, much of the time typically goes into assembling the picture: where each project stands, what's over budget and which risks have moved. The plan sits in one tool, the budget in another and the RAID log in a third, so the PMO rebuilds the view by hand every time.
The approach
PCG moved health reports, budgets, RAID logs and test cases into one place on Transform.
Because they sit on the same record as the work, project status doesn't have to be rebuilt for each review. Health reflects what's actually happening on the project, and the PMO and project managers look at the same view.
I think one of my project managers would probably leave the company if I took Transform away from her.
Stephen Trull, PMO Manager, PCG

The results
At-risk projects are now flagged at a glance, and PCG no longer needs a per-seat project license for every consultant.
The change is felt most by the project managers who run PCG's programs day to day. The PMO, meanwhile, gets its view of the portfolio from the work itself instead of a 90-minute meeting.
